Every adult Fungi t-shirt sold donates $5 to the Fungal Network of New Zealand.

The Fungal Network of New Zealand (FUNNZ) is an independent non-profit incorporated mycological society for amateur and professional people who share common interests in fungi and is open to all.

We organise an annual national fungal foray - this is a field trip for observation and specimen collection, held over several days, to learn about the mushrooms and other fungi growing in a particular region.  As part of the Foray, we also arrange a colloquium day, with talks on current research projects, interesting fungi, or any other mycological topic.

Through this annual foray and other activities, FUNNZ aims to

  • share knowledge about the fungi of Aotearoa New Zealand and their roles in all ecosystems, especially with school and tertiary students
  • help with cataloguing Aotearoa New Zealand's fungi and promote their conservation
  • stimulate research on fungi and,
  • Encourage and support postgrad projects on fungi of NZ
