We care that our products are having a positive impact on the communities who are making them and not exploiting people or the environment. We are a small company, so have to carefully choose manufacturing suppliers that have solid, responsible practices and transparency in their supply chains.
We source all of our t-shirts, bags, sweatshirts, and dresses from AS Colour - a New Zealand company who manufacture in hand picked factories in Bangladesh and China. Their social responsabilty page can be seen here.
AS Colour have been certified as Child Labour Free, W.R.A.P compliant, a signatory of the Accord on Fire and Building safety in Bangladesh, and all of their factories are regularly audited to ensure they meet ascolour's code of conduct. This maintains standards of being safe, fair, legal and humane. There is more information about ascolour’s production in this FAQ.
AS Colour is part of The Better Cotton Initiative (BCI) — a global not-for-profit organisation — is the largest cotton sustainability programme in the world. BCI exists to make global cotton production better for the people who produce it, better for the environment it grows in and better for the sector’s future. BCI aims to transform cotton production worldwide by developing Better Cotton as a sustainable mainstream commodity.
To achieve this mission, BCI works with a diverse range of stakeholders across the cotton supply chain to promote measurable and continuing improvements for the environment, farming communities and the economies of cotton-producing areas.
Here in Seaview, Wellington, New Zealand we use low environmental impact water-based inks and screen print all products by hand.

OFFSETTING CARBON EMISSIONS FROM SHIPPING
We offset the carbon emissions for every order that we ship. This carbon offset reduces the amount of CO2 in the atmosphere so that increased greenhouse gases elsewhere have a net impact of 0. We use combined data from our store with industry data and peer-reviewed models to determine how much CO2 our shipments release into the environment, and then works with Pachama to determine the cost of offsetting those emissions.
The carbon offset is currently funding the Jarí Para REDD+ Avoided Unplanned Deforestation project with Pachama. This is a Verified Carbon Standard certified project that will be verified by Pachama using their monitoring technology.
